Don’t be Scammed by Fraudulent Calls

We’ve recently been alerted that scammers may be calling customers. The calls appear to come from a legitimate First Mid phone number and the scammers are posing as members of the Fraud Department and tricking victims into confirming fraudulent transactions on their debit card or giving them access to their Online Banking account.

The scammers may ask for your debit card number, PIN, expiration date, or CVV code. The scammers may then initiate a card transaction to test your fraud alert notifications and ask that you confirm the purchase.

The scammers may also ask you to confirm your Online Banking username and then send a code to your phone and request that you read the code back to them.

If you’ve received such a call and provided your card information, confirmed a purchase you did not make, or read back a code received via text, please contact First Mid Customer Support or your local branch.

You can also help protect your account by downloading our First Mid mobile banking app and using the card controls to turn your debit card off.
