Volunteer Spotlight – Jeff Washer

Community is at the heart of who we are. Meet Jeff and see how he’s making an impact.
First Mid is honored to recognize Jeff Washer, Personal Banker in McHenry, IL, as our Volunteer Spotlight for February 2026. Jeff is committed to supporting local community organizations through volunteerism, consistently demonstrating our core values.

What causes are you passionate about supporting through volunteerism? Supporting animals is one of the causes I’m most passionate about, especially volunteering at my local animal rescue shelter, Orphans of the Storm. I’m also very involved in my local temple community, serving on the executive board as Vice President of Fundraising and working with the Ways and Means Committee to plan our annual fundraiser. In addition, I volunteer as a coach for a youth bowling league, which has been another rewarding way to give back.

What would you tell others who are thinking about volunteering? When it’s something you’re truly passionate about, volunteering is incredibly fulfilling. For me, spending time at the animal shelter feels like free therapy — no matter how my day is going, I always leave feeling happier and more positive after working with the dogs.

What are ways you think others can get involved? There are endless ways to get involved, whether through opportunities offered at First Mid or by finding causes that align with your own interests. Some people may choose to sign up for organized volunteer events, while others may prefer to donate their time independently. No matter the path you choose, there’s always a way to make a difference.

Congratulations, Jeff, on being featured as a Volunteer Spotlight! We are honored to showcase the impact you have on your community. First Mid is proud to support your volunteer efforts.
