Volunteer Spotlight - Alicia Yocum

Community is at the heart of who we are. Meet Alicia and see how she’s making an impact.
First Mid is honored to recognize Alicia Yocum, VP, Commercial & Ag Lender in Mount Pleasant, IA, as our Volunteer Spotlight for August 2026. Alicia is committed to supporting local community organizations through volunteerism, consistently demonstrating our core values.

What causes are you passionate about supporting through volunteerism? I’m passionate about giving back in ways that strengthen and connect my community. I help run the Mount Pleasant Panther Trap Team, where I assist with planning meets and events, organizing fundraisers, and supporting the team throughout the year. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Mount Pleasant Community School District Foundation, which provides opportunities and resources that go beyond the school’s general funding. From awarding scholarships to graduating seniors to purchasing library books and supporting the FFA program, it’s rewarding to see the impact these efforts have on students. In addition, I serve on the board for the Henry County Fair, helping support youth throughout our community. Volunteering has shown me the positive impact one person can have on the lives of others.

What would you tell others who are thinking about volunteering? Go for it! Start with a cause you care about, and volunteering will quickly become something you genuinely enjoy. Getting involved with activities your children participate in is a great way to give back. Volunteering is a rewarding experience that allows you to make a difference while building relationships along the way.

What are ways you think others can get involved? A great way to get involved is by talking to people and looking for opportunities that match your interests and skills. If you enjoy hands-on projects, consider helping with organizations like Habitat for Humanity. If your children are involved in sports, clubs, or other activities, see if there are events or programs that could use an extra helping hand. Many organizations are looking for volunteers, and it never hurts to ask how you can help.

Congratulations, Alicia, on being featured as a Volunteer Spotlight! We are honored to showcase the impact you have on your community. First Mid is proud to support your volunteer efforts.
