Don’t Fall Victim to a Scam

We’ve seen an increase in scam attempts that can cost victims hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Some scams begin with seemingly innocent actions, such as a request to verify a PO Box or mailing address, or replying to an unexpected text message with a confirmation code. Unfortunately, once you provide personal information to a scammer or authorize a charge by providing your account or card information, there is often little that can be done to recover the funds.

Here are a few tips to help you avoid becoming a victim:

  • Never provide your account number or card number through an interaction you did not initiate.
  • Never respond to a text message from an unknown source.
  • Never click on suspicious links in a text message you weren’t expecting.
  • Never provide personal or account information through text, email, or phone.
