Make sure you’re prepared for the unexpected. If something happened to you, would someone close to you know where to find your important documents? Would they know your login information to your accounts? Would they know your advisors and financial contacts? It’s a good idea to make a list of these important details.
Once you have completed your list:
- Keep it in a safe place.
- Make sure a trusted family member knows where to find it.
- Provide a copy to a family member, your executor, and/or your attorney.
- Remember to review and update it at least once a year.
