Once you have a deposit account with First Mid, moving accounts from another financial institution can be done in three steps. By consolidating your accounts with First Mid, you gain convenience and control of your finances. Don’t have an account with First Mid, start by opening an account online.
Download our switch kit forms and use with these step by step instructions to help you switch your existing accounts at another financial institution to First Mid. Switch kit forms include the Account Transfer Checklist, Direct Deposit/Automatic Payment Form, and Account Closure Form.
Get Started
Review your last few bank statements from the other financial institution and note all automatic transactions. Use the Account Transfer Checklist to identify and record these transactions.
When you are ready to transfer money out of this account, remember to leave sufficient funds to cover any outstanding checks or pending automatic payments.
Move Direct Deposits & Automatic Payments
Complete the Direct Deposit / Automatic Payment Form for each company making a direct deposit into your account or receiving an automatic payment from your account. Be sure to include a voided check from your new First Mid account with each request you send.
Transfer your social security direct deposit, by calling the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or visit their website at:

New automatic payments may also be set up using our Online Banking with FREE unlimited Bill Pay.
Close Old Accounts
Confirm all checks have cleared from your old account and all direct deposits and automatic payments have been changed to your new account.
Complete the Account Closure Form and send it to your previous financial institution.
Bring in your unused checks and debit cards from another financial institution, and we will help you securely destroy them.
Start using your new First Mid account exclusively.
